I’m a business reporter at More Perfect Union covering pharma, retail, gig work, tech platforms, and financial services.
My work has led to investigations by the FTC and State Attorneys General. As a journalist, I’ve appeared on NPR and Al Jazeera, and presented at the United Nations. My work has been cited by the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, USA Today, and Slate.
Before journalism, I spent seven years as a management consultant at Clarkston Consulting, where I advised major corporations on pricing strategy and revenue growth. I managed a $1.5 billion trade and direct marketing improvement program for a confectionery company, led enterprise system implementations, and developed technology roadmaps for Fortune 500 clients. That experience gave me an inside view of how corporations operate, knowledge that now informs every investigation I pursue.
Before that, I worked as a ghostwriter for Frans Johansson on The Click Moment. After the book was published, I consulted on the core thesis with companies like Disney, NIKE, and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago.
I specialize in developing investigative methodologies for exposing business practices that companies prefer to keep opaque. The Instacart pricing investigation coordinated over 400 volunteers and brought together Consumer Reports, Groundwork Collaborative, and More Perfect Union to document price discrimination at scale.
